WHO ARE WE?
The Dominic Savio League of Chapters is one of twelve Leagues of Chapters that belong to the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement in the United States.
The Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement is a non-profit organization, under the leadership of the Catholic Church. Its aim is to teach youths to be virtuous people and good Christians. It also offers apostolate services for the youth. Throughout its years of service, the Movement has kept pace with social and cultural changes of the day in an attempt to reach out to the youth of all times.
Our Purpose
1. To educate and train youths in becoming a better person as well as an excellent Christian
2. To organize and to guide all youths in spreading the Good News of the Gospel and to actively be involved in working for the good of society through charitable services and helping others.
Our Foundation
The Eucharistic Youth Movement utilizes God’s Word in the Scriptures and the teaching of the Catholic Church as the basis for educating and guiding the youth in its activities.
Our Ideal
Eucharistic Youth Movement accepts the Eucharistic Jesus Christ as its focal point, as source of spiritual life, and as ideal for the life of its members.
OUR BEGINNING
With the first two chapters established (Đoàn Thánh Tâm in Arlington, Virginia and Đoàn Sao Mai in Baltimore, Maryland) the General Chaplain of the VEYM, Cha Phanxicô Phạm Văn Phương, appointed Cha Gioan Trần Bình Trọng as the first ever Tuyên Uý Miền Trung Đông in June of 1990. 34 years later, the Dominic Savio League of Chapters continues to carry on the legacy and hopes of our former Chaplains and leaders. With deep gratitude to those who came before, we journey ever forward with faith and trust in the Lord.

OUR LOGO
Our official logo was designed by Tr. Antôn Nguyễn Duy Công when the region was known as Miền Trung Đông.
The leadership envisioned a logo that would be immediately recognizable across the Mid-Atlantic states; finally settling on the US Capitol building which represents the voice and will of the American people. Incorporating symbols representing our Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement’s roots: the Eucharist (Eucharistic Crusade) and Prayer (The Apostleship of Prayer), the foundational basis of the Bible with emanating streams of color representing the 4 ngành (divisions) and the youth leader’s scarf. Atop the logo is our Patron Saint Dominic Savio’s most famous proclamation that we adopt as our official League motto: “Death Rather Than Sin”. With the change in VEYM bylaws, our regional name was later updated to our current name: the Dominic Savio League of Chapters (Liên Đoàn Đaminh Saviô).
Tr. Công passed in Summer of 2020, however his love for our region and the VEYM lives on in his logo design that remains largely unchanged to this day.
OUR PATRON SAINT
Feast Day: May 6th
Our League of Chapters is proud to call Saint Dominic Savio our Patron Saint. Much of what his life story comes from Saint Don Bosco's biography of Dominic Savio. From an early age, Saint Dominic Savio demonstrated a deep desire to be closer to God through his devotion to the Eucharist, his resolve to be a Saint, guiding his peers to holiness, and many other examples of daily acts of virtue and holiness. Saint Dominic famously promised "Death Rather Than Sin" upon receiving his First Communion, our chosen League motto - a reminder that as Saint Dominic Savio did, we as young members of the Church should always strive for holiness and Sainthood!
